Privacy, in plain words

Short version: your habits, journal, and progress are stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud. HabitWing has no server that sees them, and there's nothing here to sell.

The whole thing in five lines

Who's "I"

HabitWing is a small, independent iPhone app for building habits, meditating and breathing, and journaling. When I say "I" or "we" on this page, that's the same small team behind it. This covers the iOS app only.

What I collect

From a server point of view — nothing. I don't run analytics, I don't have an account system, and I don't get a copy of anything you put in the app. It stays in the app, on your device.

That means no name, no email, no location, no advertising ID, no usage tracking. Not "collected but anonymized" — just not collected.

What's on your phone

The app saves a few things locally so it can do its job:

You can delete any of it any time, and deleting the app wipes it (unless you're using iCloud sync — see below).

Sign in with Apple

This is optional — you can tap "Continue without signing in" and use the whole app as a guest. If you do sign in, Apple hands the app a private identifier, which is stored in your device's Keychain, and your name (if you choose to share it) stays on your device. There's no server on my end that receives any of it. You can stop at any time by signing out of the app or revoking access in iOS Settings.

iCloud sync

So your habits and entries follow you between your iPhone and iPad, the app syncs through your own private iCloud. This happens automatically whenever you're signed in to iCloud on the device — it's tied to your Apple ID, goes to Apple, and never comes to me. I can't see inside your private iCloud; Apple's the one handling it, under their privacy policy. If you'd rather not sync, sign out of iCloud (or turn off iCloud Drive) in iOS Settings, and the app keeps everything on-device only. Signing into HabitWing with Apple is separate and doesn't move any data on its own.

Apple Health

Only if you allow it, HabitWing syncs a few Health values both ways — sleep, water, and calories. It reads them so matching habits fill themselves in, and when you log one of those in the app it writes that back to Apple Health so the two stay in sync. A few things worth knowing:

Microphone (voice journal notes)

The mic is only used when you choose to record a voice note for a journal entry. The recording is saved locally with that entry on your device — there's no upload and no server. Don't want it? Just don't record, or turn the permission off in iOS Settings.

Reminders

If you turn on reminders or the daily check-in nudges, your phone schedules them and your phone delivers them. There's no push server on my end — nothing about your habits leaves the device. You can switch them off in the app or in iOS Settings whenever.

Paying for it

HabitWing is currently free. If premium features are added later, any purchase will go through Apple — Apple handles the payment and I'd only get a yes/no receipt that says it was bought. I never see your card details. If that changes, I'll update this page and the Terms of Use first.

The only outside connections

All of them are Apple's: iCloud for syncing your data across your devices when you're signed in to iCloud, Apple Health if you grant access, Sign in with Apple if you use it, and the App Store for any future purchase. Beyond those, the app makes no network calls at all — there's no analytics endpoint, no ad network, nothing phoning home.

Contacting support (this website)

One thing does leave your control on purpose: the contact form on this website. If you choose to use it, the name, email, and message you type are sent through Netlify (the host of this site) so that I can read your note and reply. I use it only to answer you — it's never sold, never used for ads, and never added to a mailing list, and you can ask me to delete it any time. This is the website's form, separate from the app; the app itself still sends nothing. You don't have to use it — plain email works just as well.

You're in charge

A note on the app's guidance

HabitWing's suggestions, meditations, and breathing exercises are for general wellbeing — they aren't medical advice. See the Terms of Use for the details.

Kids

This isn't aimed at children under 13. Since I don't collect personal info from anyone, there's nothing to knowingly collect from kids either. If you think a child's info somehow reached me, let me know and I'll sort it out.

If this changes

If I update this policy I'll change the date up top, and if it's a meaningful change I'll flag it in the app first. Using the app after an update means you're okay with the new version.

Terms of Use

The license, how any future HabitWing purchase works, and the standard legal terms live on their own page: Terms of Use.
